2008 Scholarship Recipients
Karyssa Marie Allbritton-
Bethel High School - Bethel, Washington
Karyssa, a senior at Bethel High school in Graham, Washington, maintains a 3.8 GPA while taking challenging classes such as AP Language/Composition, AP Calculus, and AP US Government/Politics. As well as being a cheerleader, participating on the lacrosse team and soccer team, Karyssa is a member of the Diversity Club, the French Club, the Pottery Club, and served as a camp counselor. Karyssa has currently been accepted to Pacific Lutheran University, and is waiting to hear from both the University of Washington and Washington State University. Whichever school she decides to attend, we are sure that Karyssa will excel in her intended major of pre-med/biology. What stood out the most in Karyssa is her intense drive to accomplish goals that she has set for herself, as well as her remarkable ability to work hard to overcome challenges that she has encountered. We are looking forward to watching Karyssa succeed in the years to come.
Ondranesha Wright-
Lincoln High School - Tacoma, Washington
Ondranesha is a senior at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington. She is an individual who has shown resilience in the face of challenges and hardships throughout her high school career. Despite holding a part-time job during high school, she still found extra time to spend working with teachers to overcome her struggles and excel in certain subjects. Ondranesha plans to study sociology in college, specifically to prepare for a career as an addiction counselor in an effort to help those around her become successful in their own lives. We are proud to offer a scholarship to Ondranesha and look forward to seeing her accomplish the goals she has set out for herself.
Hannah VonWahlde-
Gov. John R. Rogers High School - Puyallup, Washington
Hannah is a senior at Governor John R. Rogers High School in Puyallup, Washington. She has demonstrated a personal strength and determination that seems to stand above most high school students of her age. She has a remarkable passion for her intended major, bioengineering. We feel that Hannah is a well rounded, good person, as well as a stand-out student. At school, she is a member of the lacrosse team, a Student Council Representative, and an Honor Society member. She spends some of her time volunteering at Mary Bridge Hospital, and is a member of the Medical Explorers. While the field of study that Hannah is choosing to enter is a difficult one, we feel confident that she is up to the challenge, and will do very well.
