The directors formed BrooksBooth Youth Development (BBYD) in 2006 with the inspiration of making a difference within the community that they grew up in. Both directors grew up in the South Puget Sound area, attended the University of Washington, and have family in the area. To give back to the community, BBYD wanted to focus on guiding local kids to becoming successful and responsible members of the community. In order to do so, the mission of BBYD was founded: “Develop Today’s Youth Into Tomorrow’s Leaders.” To achieve this mission, BBYD has formed two separate programs for giving back, the scholarship program and the youth grant program. The scholarship program is designed to help college bound youth meet the financial burdens of attending a university or college. Our youth program grants are designed to improve our community through sponsorship of youth programs that focus on athletics, education and/or cultural arts.
Over the years, BBYD has held various fundraising events to promote their mission and provide scholarships and youth program grants. Most notably, BBYD has historically formed a formidable team to participate in the annual Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic since 2006.
To date, BBYD has provided over $11,000 in scholarships and grants to local students and community programs and the directors look forward to seeing this number continue to grow in the years to come!
Thank you to all who have supported BBYD over the years through donations and/or volunteering. These successes could not have been obtained without your help. For those interested in knowing more about BBYD, please contact us and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!
